“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence,
so that we may receive mercy and find grace
to help us in our time of need”.

I was teaching about grace at our Greensboro Advent Christian Fellowship recently with one of the points being that our needs are met by grace. We connected that with one of those wonderful promise verses we encourage young Christians to memorize: “Casting all your care upon him for he careth for you.” (1 Peter 5:7) We talked about how hard it is sometimes to take our problems to God’s throne and leave them there. Pretty basic stuff— but then Requel came out with a priceless gem that I just have to share with you. She said, “What we do so often with our problems is leave God a photocopy and take the original with us.”
All too true, isn’t it?! How often do you find yourself rehearsing, in great detail, the full extent of your problems and woes – unpacking your burdens one after another – complaining really, more than praying. And when you finally finish, you pack the whole mess back up and carry it out with you. (I know you do ’cuz I do, too!)
Let’s ask God for more of His wonderful grace – for grace enough to give Him all our cares –along with enough faith to let go of them. He’s big enough to carry the load that crushes us. And besides, God doesn’t need a photocopy. He can handle the real thing!
